Registration for our service is completely free.

After registration you will receive an email containing your information to log into your account. You can connect to your member area by entering your user-name and password in the space provided for this purpose, in the upper right of each page of the website.

The cancellation is extremely simple. Just go into your Customer Area, then select "Cancel"
in the service menu.

After cancellation of service, you will no longer receive renewal and no more invoice will
be reclaimed for the service.

Renewals are automatically generated if you have funds in your account Change-My-IP.com.

Change-My-IP.com, does not store information about the payment methods used by our customers and would not initiate the process of periodic purchase through them.

At the end of your billing period, you will receive an invoice for your renewal. You are free to pay or not, using the method of payment you prefer.

Refunds are only possible if you meet the conditions specified in our Terms of Use.

We keep only logs of bandwidth in order to manage our servers and increase our quality of service. All other information is not stored.

The main difference between the two protocols is the power of data encryption.
To protect communications from your PC or laptop, OpenVPN provides a stronger encryption, works with most ISP and has an excellent stability.
OpenVPN is the obvious choice when seeking maximum security and confidentiality. We have a tutorial specific to installing the OpenVPN software. It is very easy to use.

The PPTP protocol is more easy to install because it is a protocol included in Windows (no additional software is required and it's ready after a few clicks), but it is less secure (weak encryption) than OpenVPN. The main advantage of PPTP is easier to run on mobile devices like iPhone, Android, Windows Mobile...
The PPTP connection may prove to be sometimes faster and smoother because of the encryption strength less than OPENVPN.

Usually, no special configuration is required. For PPTP protocol, your ISP must
allow GRE packets on your network, which is the case for most of ISPs.

In most cases, you will not encounter any problems. If you encounter problems,
please open a ticket to our support team in your member area. We'll help you to
solve your problem.

In most of cases you will have no significant loss of speed. However, a significant loss can sometimes be felt over a long distance connection (Connecting to a server in the UK, if you're in USA, the traffic has crossed the Atlantic, which may cause a small loss of speed) but these losses have no real effect on your browsing, or downloads and will remain mostly invisible in your connections of everyday.

You must use servers in the Netherlands, Germany or Luxembourg and change the tcp/udp port in the software you use to download. You have 5 dedicated ports.

To know which port you can use you must :

Open a Command Windows (Start: Programs: Accessories: Command Prompt). The type the command: ipconfig /all (ifconfig for Mac users).

With PPTP: Around PPP card in IPv4 address. The ip start with 192.168.129.X.

Example: If your local ip is 192.168.129.2, your ports will be 45002, 46002, 47002, 48002 and 49002. (addition : 40000 + last number)

With OpenVPN: Around TAP-Win32 Adapter V9 in IPv4 address. The ip start with 172.16.0.X

Example: If your local ip is 172.16.0.2, your ports will be 40002, 41002, 42002, 43002 et 44002. (addition : 40000 + last number)

Then you just have to configure your software with that new port.

For technical reasons, a session expires on the OpenVPN authentication server
only five minutes after the last contact with the customer.


For this reason, if a customer disconnects and then tries to connect again in
this period of 5 minutes, you receive a message AUTH_FAILED because the server
thinks you are connected.


In summary, always wait five minutes before you reconnect to the OpenVPN server
after disconnecting.
This does not apply to PPTP. You can connect and disconnect immediately.

To implement this function a small manipulation have to be done. After this, you will
not have to enter your login name and your password each time you login to OPENVPN.

First, open your Notepad (windows utility) to create a file named pass.txt

Enter at first line: your login name

On the second line: your password

Example:

cmi_zutyruu (first line)

56454ezf4465ef4aqe (second line)

Then Save your file as pass.txt directly in the OpenVPN config subfolder
C: \ Program Files \ OpenVPN \ config (by default)


Now you must edit the configuration of OpenVPN. To do this, right click on the icon
in your taskbar (icon of your OpenVPN connection) and choose Edit configuration.


You will then find a file containing the entire OpenVPN configuration. At the bottom
right after auth-user-pass, add pass.txt (name of the file that contains
your identifiers, previously saved in the configuration subfolder). You must
therefore have the last line in this form: auth-user-pass pass.txt


Save the file and try again to connect. Yes, after the connection request,
no user-name or password will be required and you'll be connected.

This is an error from PPTP client, and means that you could not contact the server.

There are several possible causes. For a PPTP connection, TCP port 1723 must be open to all devices on the network between the client (you) and the VPN server. Consider the list of possible causes of the problem:

► If you do not copy / paste the password, make sure you do not accidentally copy the white space at the beginning or end.
 

► If you have a personal firewall on your computer, make sure that TCP port 1723 is open.
The default configuration of most personal firewalls can block this port.


► If you have a router at home, it may be configured to support PPTP. Check how to
do it in the instructions. Usually you'll see the option in the Advanced section of the
router administration..

► Your ISP may block PPTP... In this case, no solution to this problem. Fortunately, with change-mon-ip.com you have an option to access our VPN service via OpenVPN protocol because it is much more robust and operates in many configurations, rather than PPTP. It is likely you can use OpenVPN without any problem and then take advantage of your connection.
